iv.Techniques and materials
How the print methods, options and materials differ
Print methods
- Screen printing
- One colour, up to four colours. Richer colour, with a slight layer of ink on the surface. Lines and gaps must be at least 0.5 mm.
- Heat transfer
- The printed area has a slight plastic-film feel.
- Direct colour printing
- Colours are less saturated than screen printing. It is printed straight onto the canvas, so there is no sticker-like layer on the surface.
- Dye sublimation
- Heated ink turns to vapour and soaks into the gaps in the fabric, for fine, detailed results.
